The young choreographer Giulio D’Anna has already become a household name in the Dutch dance landscape. In 2012, he was presented with the Dioraphte Dance Award at the Dutch Dance Festival, last year he was the winner of the Dutch Dance Festival Maastricht Award, and now he has been nominated for a ‘Zwaan’ award for O O O O O O. Last year’s award enabled him to make R_ESISTERE, which is being premiered at the festival this year.R_ESISTERE is formed by the words ‘resistere’ (to resist) and ‘esistere’ (to exist). Giulio D’Anna is known for his accessible, warm work. In his latest piece, he is standing up for the vulnerable, oppressed individual and giving him a voice. The dancers reveal themselves, filled with sharpness, stamina and strength. They never give up and keep on believing. This physical dance concert conveys a sense of universal human power.
